Mumbai: Renowned playback singer Asha Bhosle has been hospitalized following a cardiac arrest and complications related to her lungs. As of Sunday, she is reported to be in critical condition, according to sources.
The 92-year-old artist was taken to Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai on Saturday evening.
Sources indicate, "She is currently in the ICU and remains in a critical state."
As of now, Bhosle's family has not released any official updates regarding her health status.
Her granddaughter, Zanai, shared an update on Instagram, stating, "My grandmother, Asha Bhosle, has been hospitalized due to severe exhaustion and a chest infection. We kindly ask for your privacy during this time. Treatment is ongoing, and we hope to provide positive updates soon."
Asha Bhosle, the younger sibling of the late Lata Mangeshkar, boasts an impressive career that spans over eight decades, during which she has recorded more than 12,500 songs in various languages. She has lent her voice to numerous leading actresses, including Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Zeenat Aman, Kajol, and Urmila Matondkar, as well as South Indian stars like Padmini and Vyjayanthimala.
Some of her most iconic tracks include "Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar," "In Ankhon Ki Masti," "Dil Cheez Kya Hai," "Piya Tu Ab To Aaja," "Duniya Mein Logon Ko," and "Zaara Se Jhoom Loon Main."
Earlier this year, she celebrated her 90th birthday with a special concert titled 'ASHA@90: Live in concert' held in Dubai.
