Mumbai: Asha Bhosle, the cherished musical legend of India, passed away on Sunday due to complications from multiple organ failure, as confirmed by her medical team. She was 92 years old.


Dr. Pratit Samdani stated, "She succumbed to multi-organ failure just moments ago."


Bhosle was hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday evening, suffering from a chest infection and extreme fatigue, as revealed by her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, in a social media update.


With a remarkable career that spanned over 80 years, Asha Bhosle, the younger sibling of the iconic Lata Mangeshkar, was celebrated for her incredible versatility, delivering countless unforgettable songs across various genres, including romantic ballads, ghazals, and lively tracks.


Some of her most beloved songs include 'Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar', 'In Ankhon Ki Masti', 'Dil Cheez Kya Hai', 'Piya Tu Ab to Aaja', 'Duniya Mein Logon Ko', and 'Zaara Se Jhoom Loon Main', among many others.


Throughout her illustrious career, Bhosle recorded over 12,000 songs in numerous Indian languages, lending her voice to many leading actresses, including Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Zeenat Aman, Kajol, Urmila Matondkar, and even South Indian stars like Padmini and Vyjayanthimala.


In 2023, she celebrated her 90th birthday with a special concert titled 'ASHA@90: Live in concert' held in Dubai.
