Kejriwal's March to Prime Minister's Residence

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has announced plans to lead a march to the Prime Minister's residence on Tuesday. The purpose of this march is to submit an online petition opposing the rollout of E20 petrol, which has garnered over 200,000 signatures. During a press conference, Kejriwal expressed his frustration over the lack of response to a letter sent to the Prime Minister last month, requesting an appointment to discuss concerns related to E20 petrol. He emphasized that the petitions include complaints from the public regarding issues with vehicles using this fuel.

Concerns Over Ethanol-Mixed Petrol

Kejriwal accused the Indian government of capitulating to the United States regarding ethanol purchases. He suggested that the government's persistent promotion of ethanol-blended petrol indicates a hidden agenda. "I will go to the Prime Minister's residence with 100 supporters to personally deliver the petitions signed by the public and discuss the issues surrounding ethanol-blended petrol," he stated. He highlighted that citizens are facing various problems with their vehicles, yet the government continues to endorse this fuel, implying ulterior motives.

Pressure from the U.S. and Previous Correspondence

He further claimed that there is pressure on Prime Minister Modi from the U.S. to purchase ethanol. In his previous letter to Modi, Kejriwal requested that both pure petrol and E20 fuel options be made available at petrol stations, along with a reduction in the price of ethanol-blended petrol. "Since we did not receive a response to that letter, we will now personally submit the petition to PM Modi. We initiated a petition campaign against ethanol-blended petrol, which has received over 200,000 signatures," he added. Kejriwal also mentioned that the recent 'Ethanol Townhall' organized by AAP was highly successful, with many participants joining virtually.
