Arvind Kejriwal Advocates for Merit-Based Ticket Distribution in AAP
Kejriwal's Commitment to Common People
On Thursday, Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), emphasized the party's dedication to awarding electoral tickets to individuals who earn public trust through their work. Speaking at an event in Ludhiana, he highlighted that AAP distinguishes itself from traditional political parties by not distributing tickets based on money, influence, or family connections.
Focus on Merit Over Influence
In an interview, Kejriwal stated that AAP is a party that prioritizes giving tickets to ordinary citizens. He asserted that tickets will be granted solely based on an individual's contributions. Reiterating the founding principles of AAP, he mentioned that the party was established to bring honest and capable individuals from diverse backgrounds into politics, ensuring accountability and promoting governance centered around the public.
Political Tensions in Punjab
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched a strong critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), labeling it as anti-Punjab and anti-Sikh. He demanded a public apology from the BJP for allegedly misusing the name of Guru Tegh Bahadur in a video featuring AAP leader Atishi, which he described as a disgraceful act. In a post on social media, Mann accused the BJP of misrepresenting Atishi's words and disrespecting the revered Sikh guru.
Call for Accountability
Mann's remarks came amid a political controversy triggered by accusations made by Atishi, the leader of the opposition in the Delhi Assembly. She claimed that the BJP had manipulated a video clip shared on social media to misrepresent her statements in the Assembly. Additionally, it was announced that Punjab residents holding Aadhaar and voter ID cards would be eligible for a health insurance scheme worth up to 10 lakh rupees, which will be officially launched on January 15 by Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann.
