Efforts to Resolve Boundary Dispute

Itanagar, July 29: During a recent event, Arunachal Pradesh's Home Minister Mama Natung reiterated the state government's dedication to amicably resolving the boundary issues with Assam. He emphasized that both state administrations are collaborating closely to address all outstanding matters through constructive dialogue.

Natung referred to a recent border incident in the Tarasso region of Papum Pare district, noting that disputes affecting five districts have been settled following the Namsai Declaration. Ongoing discussions aim to resolve the remaining areas, including Papum Pare.

He mentioned that regional committees from both states are conducting regular meetings to facilitate a mutually agreeable resolution to the boundary conflict.

In his address, the minister urged residents living near the inter-state border to uphold peace, harmony, and brotherhood. He highlighted the importance of cooperation and restraint in fostering enduring peace and strengthening relationships between the two states.

Natung made these remarks while inaugurating a newly built Fire Station in Yupia, the administrative center of Papum Pare district.

The inauguration was attended by various dignitaries, including Doimukh MLA Nabam Vivek, DGP Dr. SD Singh Jamwal, and other officials from the Fire and Emergency Services Department, as well as public representatives.

Constructed by the Urban Development Department of Papum Pare at a cost of Rs 3 crore, the new fire station is anticipated to enhance the operational readiness of the Fire and Emergency Services Department and improve emergency response in Yupia and surrounding regions.

In his speech, the minister commended the commitment of Fire and Emergency Services personnel in safeguarding lives and property throughout the state. He encouraged citizens to stay alert regarding fire safety and engage in awareness initiatives organized by the department.

Furthermore, he highlighted the government's initiatives to bolster emergency infrastructure, noting that 13 new fire stations have been established across district headquarters in the past three years. Additionally, 337 new positions have been created within the department, raising the firefighting workforce to 811 personnel.

Natung also praised the achievements of Operation Dawn, the state's anti-drug campaign, which has resulted in the apprehension of numerous drug traffickers and the dismantling of various trafficking networks over the last few years. He acknowledged the Arunachal Pradesh Police for their relentless efforts in fighting drug abuse.
