Arshdeep Singh Achieves Historic Milestone
On Thursday, Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh made history by becoming the highest wicket-taker for India in ICC T20 World Cup history, surpassing Jasprit Bumrah.
He reached this remarkable achievement during a critical match against Zimbabwe in Chennai, where he delivered an impressive performance, claiming 3 wickets for 24 runs in four overs.
Breaking Bumrah's Record
Since his debut in the 2022 T20 World Cup, Arshdeep has played 19 matches, taking a total of 35 wickets with an average of 14.25 and an economy rate of 7.33, including one four-wicket haul.
Previously, Bumrah held the record with 33 wickets in 23 matches, averaging 14.00 and boasting best figures of 3/7. The all-time leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history is Bangladesh's Shakib al Hasan, with 50 wickets.
Outstanding Performances in the Tournament
In the current tournament, Arshdeep has secured eight wickets across five matches, maintaining an average of 16.00, with his best performance being 3/24.
During the last edition in 2024, he was among the top wicket-takers, finishing with 17 wickets in eight matches at an average of 12.64, including a four-wicket haul with best figures of 4/9.
Reaching 150 International Wickets
Arshdeep also marked another significant milestone by achieving 150 international wickets, totaling 151 wickets in 96 matches and 94 innings, with an average of 19.78, including three four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls, with best figures of 5/37.
He leads India in T20I wickets with 126 in 81 matches and has also taken 25 wickets in 15 ODIs.

Following this victory, India now has one win and one loss in the Super Eight phase, similar to West Indies, setting the stage for a crucial match on March 1, which will serve as a virtual knockout for the second semifinal spot, while the Proteas have already qualified with two wins.
