Arrest Made in Bhojpur Encounter Case Involving Bharat Bhushan Tiwari

Police Arrest STF Personnel in Encounter Case

In Bhojpur district, approximately 45 days after the alleged encounter that led to the death of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, law enforcement has apprehended a member of the Special Task Force (STF) on Friday. The Superintendent of Police (SP) for Bhojpur confirmed the arrest, stating, 'The STF personnel was taken into custody this morning in Ara.'


The arrested individual is accused of shooting Bharat Bhushan Tiwari during the encounter. However, authorities have refrained from disclosing the identity of the arrested officer.


Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, a resident of Bilauti village in the Shahpur police station area, lost his life on June 17 during an alleged police encounter. Following the incident, the Bihar police suspended four officers, including a station chief, after a video surfaced showing an armed suspect pointing a gun at security personnel.


It was alleged that the police officers present failed to take necessary action in a timely manner. On June 20, the Bihar government announced a judicial inquiry into the encounter. A First Information Report (FIR) was filed at Shahpur police station on June 22, based on a complaint submitted by Tiwari's mother.
