Army Chief Issues Strong Warning to Pakistan Amid Ongoing Operation Sindoor
Operation Sindoor: A Firm Stance Against Adversaries
New Delhi, Jan 13: Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi reaffirmed that Operation Sindoor is actively in progress, emphasizing that any aggressive actions from adversaries will be met with a decisive response, particularly aimed at Pakistan.
During the annual press conference, Gen Dwivedi elaborated on the significance of Operation Sindoor, stating that it has been instrumental in reshaping strategic assumptions by targeting and dismantling terrorist infrastructure, thereby challenging Islamabad's longstanding nuclear posturing.
He remarked, "Operation Sindoor is ongoing, and any future miscalculation will be met with a strong response." This operation reflects India's strategic clarity and readiness to counter cross-border terrorism with precision.
Gen Dwivedi also noted that the Indian Army has mobilized its forces and is prepared for ground operations.
He described the current situation along the northern front as stable but requiring continuous monitoring. Efforts in confidence-building and renewed contact are aiding in the gradual normalization of conditions. Additionally, capability enhancement and infrastructure development are being pursued through a comprehensive governmental strategy.
In the past year, security forces have successfully neutralized 31 terrorists, most of whom were of Pakistani origin, including those responsible for the Pahalgam terror incident.
He stated, "In 2025, we eliminated 31 terrorists, with 65% being of Pakistani origin, including three involved in the Pahalgam attack, who were neutralized during Operation Mahadev. Currently, active local terrorists are in single digits, and recruitment has significantly declined, with only two cases reported in 2025."
Gen Dwivedi characterized the situation in Jammu and Kashmir as sensitive yet firmly under control.
Highlighting the "clear signs of positive transformation in J&K," he pointed to robust development initiatives, a resurgence in tourism, and the peaceful conduct of the Shri Amarnath Yatra, which attracted over 400,000 pilgrims, surpassing the five-year average.
He also mentioned that the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China remains stable but requires ongoing vigilance.
