Speculation Surrounds BJP Leadership in Uttar Pradesh

Discussions are intensifying regarding who will take the helm of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh. According to indications from a recent BJP-RSS meeting held on Monday, the long-awaited selection of the new state BJP president appears to be finalized, with only an official announcement pending. Sources suggest that the announcement could be made in the coming days, potentially by the end of this week.

Senior officials have indicated that the announcement of the new national president of the BJP could also occur soon. On Monday, senior leaders from the RSS held several closed-door meetings with government and BJP officials. Arun Kumar, the national coordinator of the RSS, along with B.L. Santosh, the national organization secretary of the BJP, arrived in Lucknow and met with regional propagators Anil Singh and Mahendra Kumar. They also engaged with officials from the Kashi region to gather feedback on government operations and party activities.


Following these discussions, Kumar and Santosh participated in a high-profile meeting at the Chief Minister's residence with CM Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, and Brijesh Pathak. Current state BJP president Bhupendra Chaudhary and state general secretary (organization) Dharmapal Singh were also present. Insiders within the BJP revealed that during a recent meeting in Delhi, the central leadership considered nine candidates for the position, including three from the Brahmin community, three from OBCs, and three from Dalit backgrounds.

Sources have indicated that top leaders from both the BJP and the RSS expressed dissatisfaction with a report from the party's SIR monitoring team, which highlighted a lack of interest among elected representatives, including ministers and MPs, in the SIR process. Meanwhile, Piyush Goyal and Vinod Tawde, who are overseeing the election process for the state president, are ensuring that everything runs smoothly. The names generating the most buzz include Dinesh Sharma, Harish Dwivedi, OBC leader Dharmapal Singh, B.L. Verma, Dalit representative Ramshankar Katheria, and Vidya Sagar Sonkar.
