Record-Breaking Performance

In the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Anshul Kamboj, a fast bowler for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has unfortunately set a new record by allowing 34 sixes, the highest number ever conceded by a bowler in a single IPL season.

This record surpasses the previous one held by Rashid Khan, who gave up 33 sixes in the 2025 season. Kamboj's record-setting performance occurred during a match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Rashid Khan, known for being the leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket, faced 33 sixes last season.

Kamboj's Declining Performance

Kamboj began the 2026 IPL season strongly with CSK, but his performance has significantly declined in recent games, leading to costly overs for his team. In CSK's twelfth league match against Lucknow Super Giants, he had a particularly tough outing, giving up eight sixes, marking the highest number conceded by a bowler in a single IPL match. Notably, he was hit for four consecutive sixes on two occasions during that innings, highlighting his current struggles.

Gujarat Titans' Dominant Total

In the match itself, Gujarat Titans achieved a formidable score of 229 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to a century partnership between captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, along with a solid half-century from Jos Buttler. CSK now faces the challenge of chasing down 230 runs to maintain their chances of making the playoffs.
