Anil Agarwal Advocates for IPL Team in Bihar to Showcase Local Talent
Call for an IPL Team in Bihar
Patna: Anil Agarwal, the Chairman of Vedanta Resources and a prominent businessman, has expressed his desire for Bihar to have its own Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise. He believes that the state is rich in cricketing talent and deserves representation similar to that of established teams like Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders. Agarwal shared his views in a recent post on X.
In his post, Agarwal highlighted the accomplishments of notable players from Bihar, including Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He questioned, "Shouldn't a remarkable state like Bihar have its own team, just like Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders?" He emphasized that Bihar has produced many exceptional cricketers.
Agarwal also raised a concern regarding the lack of recognition for Bihar in the cricketing arena. He noted that players from the state have already made significant contributions to international cricket. He mentioned Ishan Kishan, who hails from Patna, Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Samastipur, and Sakib Hussain from Gopalganj, all of whom are participating in this year's IPL. Agarwal expressed hope that young athletes from Bihar would no longer need to relocate to other states to pursue their careers.
He stated, "It's my biggest dream that Bihar's youth receive every opportunity to excel in all fields, and that our players have access to world-class infrastructure, training, and support right here in Bihar." Agarwal is optimistic that with the right motivation and facilities, a Bihar team could become a leading force in the cricketing world.
