Andhra Pradesh Launches Statewide Yoga Campaign 'Yogandhra-2026'

This initiative seeks to transform yoga into a daily practice for citizens, targeting one crore participants. Activities will span from June 7 to June 20, featuring a grand event in Amaravati and special sessions at various spiritual sites. The campaign also aims to train a significant number of certified yoga instructors, enhancing community engagement and promoting yoga tourism. June has been designated as 'Yoga Month' to further encourage participation.

Launch of 'Yogandhra-2026' Yoga Campaign
The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, announced the commencement of a 14-day statewide yoga initiative named 'Yogandhra-2026' on Wednesday. He emphasized yoga as an invaluable lifestyle practice gifted by India to the world, describing it as the "best remedy" for contemporary issues such as stress, anxiety, and health problems related to lifestyle. Speaking to the media in Amaravati, Naidu stated that the government's goal is to transform yoga from a one-day event into a daily household practice, evolving it into a public health movement under the 'Golden Andhra Vision-2047'. This year, the theme for the 12th International Yoga Day focuses on yoga for healthy aging, with the state government aiming to involve one crore individuals across Andhra Pradesh.
Activities and Special Sessions
Naidu expressed that yoga should evolve into a powerful public health movement for a healthier Andhra Pradesh. He further mentioned that 'Yogandhra-2026' is being launched as a prestigious initiative to maintain the momentum from the previous year. Activities for 'Yogandhra-2026' will take place from June 7 to June 20 across all districts. A grand event is scheduled at the Krishna River West Bypass Bridge in Amaravati, expecting participation from 25,000 individuals. Each district will have a specific theme, with district-level programs involving 2,000 to 3,000 participants planned. Special sessions are also being organized for specific groups, including police personnel in NTR district and farmers in Konaseema district.
Promotion of Yoga Tourism
To promote yoga tourism, special sessions will be held at 56 significant tourism and spiritual sites, including Undavalli Caves and Srisailam. The government has allocated a special budget of 10 crore rupees for infrastructure, promotion, and event management. After the 14-day campaign, all district collectors will receive specific guidelines to ensure ongoing promotion throughout the year. Special initiatives are being undertaken to enhance participation from youth, women, and students. The state aims to train 10 lakh certified yoga instructors and increase the total number of instructors to 25 lakh. Continuous training will be provided through the Andhra Pradesh Yoga Promotion Council, the Sanjeevani app, and Hubuild WhatsApp communities. June has been declared as "Yoga Month".
