Andhra Pradesh Government Reverts to Traditional Ration Distribution System

In a significant policy shift, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has decided to end the mobile ration distribution system initiated by the YSR Congress Party. The government will revert to the traditional method of distributing rations through fair price shops. This decision comes after feedback revealed that many beneficiaries were not receiving their rations, with reports of inflated prices by mobile unit operators. This move aims to ensure a more reliable and accessible ration distribution system for the citizens.

Cabinet Decision to Reinstate Old Ration Distribution Method

Under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has decided to discontinue the YSR Congress Party's initiative of distributing rations through mobile vehicles. Instead, they will revert to the previous system of distribution via fair price shops.

The mobile distribution unit (MDU) scheme was introduced by former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. An official statement confirmed, "The Cabinet has approved the proposal to terminate the current distribution method through MDUs and restore the direct ration distribution system through fair price shops."

Feedback from ration card holders indicated that approximately 25% of beneficiaries were not receiving their rations, while MDU operators were reportedly charging higher prices.
