Focus on Public Health in Andhra Pradesh

On February 25, Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the importance of public health during a meeting with officials from the Medical and Health Department. The discussion centered on the recent diarrhea outbreak in Srikakulam and a milk adulteration case in Rajahmundry.

Naidu instructed officials to prioritize public health and ensure that various departments collaborate effectively to prevent similar incidents in the future.

During the meeting, he engaged with senior health officials and district representatives to assess the situation. He specifically inquired about the health status of patients receiving treatment for the Srikakulam and Rajahmundry incidents.

The Chief Minister was particularly concerned about two patients in critical condition at Srikakulam GEMS Hospital, one requiring ventilator support and the other undergoing dialysis. He insisted on providing them with special medical attention.

Officials reported that 76 individuals are currently hospitalized in Srikakulam, with all but two in stable condition. They also mentioned that the water supply through pipelines has been halted, and safe drinking water is being provided through alternative means.

In Rajahmundry, those affected by the milk adulteration are under continuous medical observation. The health department has already sent milk samples for testing and is actively monitoring the situation.

State Health and Family Welfare Department Commissioner Veerapandian stated that seven patients in Rajahmundry are in critical condition, with 15 individuals hospitalized, including two children, one of whom is just five months old. Unfortunately, four fatalities have been reported so far, but no new cases emerged on Tuesday.

Veerapandian assured the media that necessary measures are being implemented to ensure optimal treatment for all hospitalized patients.
