Andhra Pradesh CM Praises Koneru Humpy and Arjun Erigaisi for FIDE World Rapid Championship Success

Amaravati, Dec 29: Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu extended his congratulations to Koneru Humpy for securing a bronze medal at the FIDE World Rapid Championships.
In a message shared on X, he stated, “Champions are not defined by a single outcome, but by their relentless spirit to compete at the highest levels repeatedly. Achieving bronze on such a prestigious platform signifies true excellence. Your journey and the pride you instill in India serve as an inspiration to millions.”
Additionally, he praised Arjun Erigaisi for his bronze medal achievement at the same championship, highlighting that he is the first Indian male player to reach this milestone since Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand. CM Naidu remarked, “As a proud son of Telangana, Arjun has contributed another significant chapter to India's rich chess history.”
Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, along with Home Minister V. Anitha and Roads and Buildings Minister B. C. Janardhan Reddy, also expressed their congratulations to Humpy.
Minister Reddy emphasized that Humpy has already claimed five medals at the FIDE World Rapid Championship, stating that India takes pride in her accomplishments. He described her as a role model for women athletes and expressed hope for her continued success in bringing accolades to India and the state.
SAAP Chairman A. Ravi Naidu echoed these sentiments, noting Humpy's remarkable achievement of five medals at the FIDE Championship.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar also congratulated Arjun Erigaisi, stating, “Congratulations to our local hero for winning the bronze medal at the FIDE World Rapid Championship. This achievement marks him as the only Indian male player to podium at this event since Viswanathan Anand. Telangana is proud of your success.” He further congratulated Humpy, acknowledging her ongoing contributions to India's pride.
