Guwahati, May 3: The administration of Andaman and Nicobar achieved a remarkable milestone on Saturday by unveiling the largest underwater national flag in the world at Radhanagar beach.

This enormous Tricolour, approximately 60 by 40 metres in size, was meticulously placed underwater through a well-coordinated effort involving various agencies and skilled divers at Swaraj Dweep (Havelock Island).

Key figures such as Lieutenant Governor DK Joshi, Chief Secretary Chandra Bhushan Kumar, and Director General of Police HS Dhaliwal were present to witness this historic event.

Collaboration among personnel from the Andaman and Nicobar Police, the Forest department, the Indian Navy, and the Indian Coast Guard, along with scuba divers from different diving centres, was crucial for the successful underwater unfurling.

At precisely 10:35 am, Rishi Nath, a Guinness World Records adjudicator, officially recognized the achievement and presented the certificate to Joshi.

In his address, Joshi commended the teams for their exceptional coordination and dedication, describing this accomplishment as a noteworthy addition to the islands' unique records.

Looking ahead, the administration plans to pursue another Guinness World Record on Sunday for the "Tallest Human Stack" at the Lighthouse dive site on Swaraj Dweep, with the Lieutenant Governor and senior officials expected to be in attendance.

This achievement underscores the increasing prominence of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as a hub for adventure tourism, marine activities, and internationally recognized events.
