Amit Shah's Strong Stance Against Illegal Immigration in Assam
Amit Shah Criticizes Congress in Assam Rally
During a rally in Patharkandi, Assam, on Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a fierce critique of the Congress party, asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will prevent the state from becoming a haven for illegal immigrants ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. He urged voters to support the BJP government.
Addressing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi directly, Shah declared, "I announce from here, and Rahul Baba, listen carefully, we will not allow Assam to become a stronghold for infiltrators." He accused the opposition of engaging in vote bank politics.
BJP's Commitment to Identifying Infiltrators
Shah emphasized that the BJP has identified illegal immigrants and promised decisive action against them. He stated, "Choose the BJP government. We have recognized the infiltrators. It is now time to remove them one by one." He further claimed that if BJP-led governments come to power in Assam, West Bengal, and Tripura, illegal immigration would cease.
Discussing the party's cultural agenda, Shah mentioned that only the BJP is committed to renaming Karimganj to 'Shri Bhumi' and criticized Congress for relying on infiltrators for political gain.
Questioning Rahul Gandhi's Understanding of Regional Sentiments
Shah questioned Rahul Gandhi's ability to comprehend regional sentiments, asking how someone with roots in Italy could understand the significance of 'Shri Bhumi.' He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for granting classical language status to Assamese and Bengali.
Defending the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Shah accused Congress of opposing it for political advantage.
Allegations Against Congress Regarding CAA
Shah alleged that Congress consistently opposes the CAA whenever it is mentioned. He claimed there is a conspiracy to turn the region into a stronghold for infiltrators, referencing the repeal of the 1950 Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act and the implementation of the IMDT Act in 1983 to shelter infiltrators.
He concluded by stating that BJP-led governments in Assam and neighboring states would work together to halt illegal immigration, asserting that as soon as BJP-NDA governments are established in Assam, Bengal, and Tripura, illegal immigration will stop. "We will systematically identify and expel every infiltrator," he affirmed.
