Massive Turnout for Amit Shah in Guwahati

Guwahati, Mar 28: Union Home Minister Amit Shah attracted a large crowd in Guwahati on Saturday, as thousands gathered along the streets for his roadshow in anticipation of the Assam Assembly elections scheduled for April 9.

Supporters waved party flags and cheered as Shah's convoy moved through the city, marking a significant display of strength during this critical campaign period.

The roadshow, which aimed to bolster support for BJP's Guwahati Central candidate Vijay Kumar Gupta, commenced at the Arya Vidyapeeth College Playground and traversed key locations including Arya Nagar Chariali, the Employment Exchange Point, Bihutoli Tiniali, and Nepali Mandir, attracting large crowds at each stop.

While addressing the media during the event, Shah emphasized the transformative changes that have taken place in Assam under the BJP-led administration.

“With Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma at the helm, Assam is on the path to becoming infrastructure-surplus. The decline in militancy and the end of insurgency have made incidents like bomb blasts a thing of the past,” he stated.

Shah also highlighted advancements in healthcare and education, asserting that Assam is evolving into a central hub for the Northeast.

“Healthcare services have seen significant improvements, and the state is emerging as an educational and medical center for the entire region,” he remarked.

On the economic front, Shah pointed to increasing job opportunities and the arrival of advanced industries.

“New job prospects are being created, with even high-tech sectors like semiconductor industries making their way to Assam. Development has reached every household through the collaborative efforts of both the Centre and the state government,” he added.

Expressing confidence in the upcoming elections, Shah stated that the BJP-led NDA is poised for a substantial victory, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier assertion that Assam is ready for “five more years” of a double-engine government.

“The people of Assam are eager to re-elect the BJP and NDA. We are confident of securing over 90 seats and continuing our governance for a third consecutive term,” Shah declared.

Addressing concerns regarding infiltration, Shah clarified the party's stance.

“We do not oppose any community; our fight is against illegal infiltrators. The lack of a BJP government in neighboring areas has allowed infiltration to persist, and we are dedicated to halting it and safeguarding Assam,” he explained.

Earlier, Modi had also underscored Assam’s development journey, stating in a social media update that the state's progress across various sectors reflects strong public backing for the NDA, with citizens “ready” for another five-year term of the double-engine government.
