Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has accused the Mamata Banerjee administration in West Bengal of facilitating the infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals for political gain. During a press briefing in Kolkata on Tuesday, he emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is committed to expelling illegal immigrants if they gain power in the state.

Shah expressed that the residents of West Bengal are increasingly concerned about the issue of infiltration.


He stated, “We will not only identify infiltrators, but we will also drive them out.”


The Home Minister pointed out that the central government has faced challenges in completing the fencing along the India-Bangladesh border due to the West Bengal government's failure to provide the necessary land.


Predicting a BJP victory in the 2026 elections, Shah asserted that the party would halt infiltration from the eastern borders and work towards revitalizing the state.


He confidently claimed, “BJP will form a government in West Bengal with a two-thirds majority.”

Additionally, Shah criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging that it has outdone the Left in fostering a climate of fear and violence.
