Commemorating a Great Leader

On the eve of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's 101st birthday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled a bronze statue in his honor on Wednesday.

During the ceremony held at Atal Park, Shah, accompanied by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and several state ministers, revealed the impressive 41-foot statue. He also took the time to explore an exhibition dedicated to Vajpayee's life and philosophies.

Shah was in Panchkula to attend various events and virtually inaugurated 250 'Atal Libraries'. A documentary showcasing Vajpayee's life was also presented during this occasion.

While addressing the passing out parade of the 93rd batch of the 'Recruit Basic Course' (RBC), Shah praised Vajpayee as a natural patriot, a skilled administrator, and a heartfelt poet, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to national security and progress. This parade saw the induction of 5,061 newly trained constables into the state police force.

In a related announcement, Delhi's Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood revealed that the BJP government will launch 100 Atal Canteens on the occasion of Vajpayee's birthday, offering meals for just five rupees. This initiative was part of the party's election manifesto for Delhi.

Sood mentioned in a press conference that the canteens would commence operations on Thursday. Although construction was delayed for two months due to GRAP restrictions, meals will be served at all locations. The Delhi budget for 2025-26 has allocated 100 crore rupees for these canteens.
