Amit Shah Unveils Cooperative Taxi Service Aiming to Become India's Largest

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced the launch of a cooperative taxi service, which aims to become the largest in India within two years. With a successful pilot in Delhi, over 51,000 drivers have already registered. The service, supported by major cooperative organizations, allows customers to book cars, autos, and bikes. Shah expressed confidence in the service's potential to transform the transportation landscape, ensuring drivers receive their earnings directly into their bank accounts. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing cooperative ventures in the country.
 

Launch of Cooperative Taxi Service

On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the newly launched cooperative taxi service is on track to become the largest cooperative taxi company in the country within the next two years. Since its pilot launch, approximately 51,000 drivers have registered for the service.


Highlighting the initial success of this initiative, Shah stated, "We have recently introduced the cooperative taxi service, which operates on a cooperative basis. The pilot project commenced in Delhi."


Shah made these remarks while addressing the 'Earth Summit' at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Center. This event is a national initiative organized by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).


He further noted that since the pilot project began, 51,000 drivers have signed up for the service.


Shah emphasized, "Our taxi drivers will receive their entire earnings directly into their bank accounts. I am confident that within two years, this taxi service will emerge as the largest cooperative taxi company in the nation."


The online ride-hailing service 'Bharat Taxi', supported by the country's top eight cooperative organizations, was launched on a trial basis in the national capital on Tuesday. Customers will be able to book cars, autos, and bikes under the 'Bharat Taxi' service.


Operated through the Cooperative Limited, 'Bharat Taxi' has already registered over 51,000 drivers on its digital app. The founding members of this cooperative include Amul, IFFCO, Kribhco, Nafed, NDDDB, NCEL, NCDC, and NABARD.
