Central Home Minister's Upcoming Visit to Assam

On August 29, Central Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Assam to inaugurate the newly constructed Raj Bhavan. This announcement was made by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday.

Following the inauguration of the new Raj Bhavan, Shah will participate in a conference for the newly elected members of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) panchayats, where they will also be honored.

Before departing for New Delhi in the evening, he will inaugurate the centenary celebration of Golap Borbora, Assam's first non-Congress Chief Minister.

Significance of Raj Bhavan

The Raj Bhavan serves as the official residence of the state's head. Before taking office, governors are sworn in at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan. Newly elected chief ministers, ministers, chief justices, and judges of the High Court, along with other dignitaries, take their oaths here.

In addition to these significant events, the Raj Bhavan also accommodates the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, and other distinguished guests visiting the state capital.

Amit Shah's Recent Remarks

Recently, during a discussion in the Lok Sabha about Operation Sindoor, Amit Shah criticized the Congress party for its inaction against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism during its tenure.

He also took aim at former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, particularly regarding the ceding of Aksai Chin to China, supporting China's seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), and abandoning Assam during the 1962 war.

This criticism came as he informed the house about the elimination of three Pakistani terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) involved in the April 22 Pulwama attack, during an operation conducted by the Indian Army near Srinagar.
