In Kolkata, a significant gathering of the BJP legislature party commenced on Friday, featuring Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is set to oversee the election of the party's leader and the new Chief Minister for West Bengal.


This meeting is taking place at a hotel in the city, with participation from newly elected BJP MLAs, central observers, and prominent state leaders.


Supriyo Adhikari, who has become a prominent figure in the BJP's campaign within Bengal, is considered the leading candidate for the chief ministerial role after securing victories in both Nandigram and the stronghold of TMC leader Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur.


The swearing-in ceremony is anticipated to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and chief ministers from NDA-ruled states, scheduled for May 9 at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata.
