On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized that the past 12 years under the Narendra Modi administration have marked a significant era of development intertwined with heritage. In a post on X, Shah described this period as a golden age where initiatives like the construction of the Shri Ram Temple, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, and Ujjain Mahakal Lok have taken place alongside transformative programs such as PM Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and Make in India, which have propelled the nation’s growth journey.


Government Initiatives Under the Theme of 'Development and Heritage'

This statement comes as the government showcases various initiatives undertaken over the last 12 years under the theme of "Development and Heritage." According to official reports, there has been a focus on linking heritage conservation with broader development goals, emphasizing the preservation, development, and promotion of India's cultural heritage. Key initiatives include the digitization of one crore records, the return of 668 ancient artifacts, the establishment of 11 museums dedicated to the tribal freedom struggle, and granting classical language status to 11 Indian languages.


Efforts to Enhance Cultural Heritage

The report further details that in recent years, programs have been initiated to restore famous sites, preserve temples and monuments, improve facilities for visitors, and develop heritage cities and pilgrimage circuits. It also states that India’s cultural assets, which encompass monuments, ancient artifacts, manuscripts, and historical sites, represent a shared heritage that has been passed down through generations. Since 2014, the government has implemented various measures to protect and promote these assets, linking heritage development with economic growth, tourism, livelihoods, and cultural diplomacy.


Connecting Heritage Preservation with National Development

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the government has aimed to connect heritage preservation with national development. This includes the return of over 668 stolen artifacts, the development of spiritual infrastructure like the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, and efforts to give Indian traditions a global identity.
