Amit Shah's Strong Remarks on Women's Safety

During an election rally in Jamalpur, located in the Purba Bardhaman district of West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a fierce critique against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding women's safety in the state. Addressing the crowd, Shah targeted Banerjee over the rising crime rates and promised that these issues would be addressed if the BJP were to come to power. He emphasized that over the past fifteen years of Mamata's rule, it is the mothers and sisters who have suffered the most. Incidents from RG Kar, Sodepur, Calcutta Law College, and Durgapur College illustrate the widespread atrocities against women. Shah remarked that Banerjee suggests women should not venture out after 7 PM, but he assured the audience that after the 5th, even a young girl could safely be outside at 1 AM without fear of harassment.

Criticism of Mamata's Leadership

Shah asserted that no BJP Chief Minister has ever advised women against going out after 7 PM, criticizing Mamata for her failure to ensure their safety. He stated, "In all the states where the BJP is in power, no Chief Minister has ever said that women should not go out after 7 PM. Mamata didi, you should be ashamed. As a female Chief Minister, you have failed to protect women. The BJP promises that if any goon dares to look at our mothers and sisters with ill intent, they will be imprisoned."

Shah Confident of Winning Over 110 Seats in First Phase

Meanwhile, Shah expressed confidence that the BJP would secure more than 110 seats in the first phase of voting, which covered 152 seats. He mentioned, "Based on the feedback we have received, the people of West Bengal have already made their decision in the first phase. The 92.98% voter turnout across 52 seats in 16 districts indicates that 'Didi's' departure is certain, and the BJP is set to come to power. Fear will be replaced by trust." Speaking at a press conference in Kolkata, he added that after assessing the situation with committee members, they estimate that the BJP will win over 110 seats out of 152, paving the way for a BJP government in Bengal after the second phase of voting.
