Amit Shah Critiques Congress President's Language

On Wednesday, Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah strongly criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for labeling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a terrorist. Shah attributed Kharge's choice of words to the negative influence of Rahul Gandhi. Speaking at an election rally, Shah remarked that it is unacceptable for Kharge to call Modi, who has worked to eradicate terrorism, a terrorist. He suggested that Kharge's language has deteriorated due to his association with Rahul Baba.

Addressing Rahul Gandhi directly, Shah stated, 'Listen, Rahul Baba… the more insults you hurl at Modi Ji, the more the lotus will bloom with pride. We will implement the UCC (Uniform Civil Code) in the state, which will abolish practices like triple talaq and polygamy.' This controversy erupted following Kharge's speech on the last day of campaigning in Tamil Nadu, where he criticized the BJP's alliance with AIADMK and referred to Modi as a terrorist who does not believe in equality, prompting a political backlash.

Kharge later clarified that he did not directly call Modi a terrorist, but accused him of using agencies like ED, CBI, and income tax to intimidate political opponents, claiming his statements were misrepresented. The BJP condemned Kharge's comments and filed a complaint with the Election Commission demanding an apology. A BJP delegation, including three central ministers, visited the Election Commission on Wednesday, urging strict action against Kharge for his 'terrorist' remark regarding Prime Minister Modi.

Among the delegation was Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who spoke to reporters after the meeting, stating, 'We have come before the Commission to draw attention to the fact that a prominent figure like the Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha has used such deplorable language.' Sitharaman emphasized that Kharge's comments about the Prime Minister during a press conference in Tamil Nadu were extremely condemnable.
