Amir Jangoo Joins West Indies T20I Squad for India Series
Amir Jangoo Added to T20I Squad
Amir Jangoo, the wicketkeeper-batter from West Indies, has been included in the T20I squad for the upcoming series against India. This decision comes as a precautionary measure for Jewel Andrew, who suffered a finger injury during the third ODI on Saturday, as reported by the ICC.
Andrew sustained the injury while attempting to catch a ball that dismissed Naman Dhir and was later taken to the hospital for further examination.
Fortunately, the scans showed no fractures; however, Andrew did not participate in batting during West Indies' successful run chase.
He remains under observation by the West Indies medical team and has not yet been ruled out for the T20I series.
Jangoo's Recent Performance
Jangoo's selection is a reward for his impressive recent performances. Since his international debut in December 2024, he has participated in seven T20Is, but it was his remarkable display in the ODI series against India that caught the selectors' eyes.
He kicked off the series with an unbeaten score of 58 in the first ODI, followed by a remarkable 114 in the second match, and concluded with 67 runs in the third, totaling 239 runs.
This performance placed him third among the top run-scorers from both teams, trailing only behind India's captain Shubman Gill and West Indies' captain Shai Hope.
His addition provides the West Indies with another option for wicketkeeping and batting as they prepare for the five-match T20I series.
Jangoo's T20I Statistics
In his seven T20I appearances, Jangoo has accumulated 163 runs at an impressive strike rate of 120.74.
He will be looking to maintain his ODI form as the West Indies face India in the first T20I match scheduled in Lucknow on Tuesday.
