Amarnath Yatra Postponed for Second Consecutive Day

Due to inclement weather, the Amarnath Yatra has been suspended for the second consecutive day, as confirmed by officials. They stated that no new groups of pilgrims have been allowed to proceed towards the Amarnath cave temple located in the southern Kashmir Himalayas.

Pilgrims arriving from outside have been accommodated at the high-security Bhagwati Nagar base camp, where they will remain until the weather conditions are reassessed before continuing their journey to the Pahalgam and Baltal base camps.

Since the commencement of the 38-day pilgrimage on July 3, over four lakh devotees have visited the cave temple, situated at an elevation of 3,880 meters, to witness the ice Shiva Lingam.

A travel information officer remarked, 'The journey from Jammu to the Amarnath cave temple has been postponed today due to adverse weather conditions. No new groups are permitted to travel from Jammu to Amarnath. This marks the second suspension of the pilgrimage from Jammu, with the first occurring on July 17 due to heavy rainfall at both base camps in Kashmir.'
