The West Indies cricket team has announced that pace bowler Alzarri Joseph will not participate in the upcoming two-match ICC World Test Championship series against Pakistan. This decision comes as a significant surprise ahead of the home matches.

Joseph, who has been a key player for the West Indies in the current ICC World Test Championship cycle, is absent due to personal reasons, as reported by the ICC.

His exclusion has paved the way for left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop to join the 15-member squad, following his impressive performances in domestic cricket. Additionally, top-order batsman Kirk McKenzie returns to the team after showcasing strong form for Jamaica in first-class matches.

Bishop boasts an impressive first-class record, having taken 119 wickets in 25 matches with an average of 23.90. Over the last three seasons of the West Indies Championship, he has emerged as the leading wicket-taker, securing 91 wickets.

Captain Roston Chase will lead the team, supported by vice-captain Jomel Warrican. Fast bowler Anderson Phillip has been dropped from the squad after participating in the last Test against Sri Lanka, which ended in a draw, allowing the West Indies to clinch a 1-0 series victory and elevate their position to eighth in the World Test Championship standings.
