Aloknath's Controversial Past: Allegations of Sexual Assault Resurface
The Aloknath Controversy
In 2018, the MeToo movement swept through Bollywood, leading numerous female stars to accuse male directors, actors, and crew members of sexual misconduct. Among those implicated was Aloknath, known for his portrayal of the 'sanskari' father figure in films.
Aloknath faced serious allegations from several actresses and women he had worked with, including filmmaker and writer Vinta Nanda.
Revelations on Facebook
Vinta took to Facebook to share her harrowing experience, claiming that Aloknath had raped her. Her post sent shockwaves through the film industry. Here’s a summary of her allegations against him.
Vinta recounted an incident when Aloknath invited her to a party at his home while working on the serial 'Tara'. She arrived to find Aloknath's wife absent, as she was out of town, but several friends were present, so she felt at ease. However, after consuming drinks at the party, she began to feel unwell and decided to leave around 2 AM.
Vinta's Disturbing Account
She stated that no one offered to drop her home, so she started walking, hoping to find a taxi or auto. Aloknath then offered her a ride, and trusting him, she got into his car. Due to the effects of alcohol, her memories of the night were hazy, but she recalled someone forcing alcohol into her mouth. The next day, she woke up in pain, realizing she had been raped in her own home. Vinta described the difficulty she faced in getting out of bed due to the pain. She claimed that Aloknath continued to assault her multiple times afterward, but she remained silent due to financial constraints, as she had been sidelined from some of her projects for opposing him.
