Encounter Leads to Arrest in Haryana

Gurugram, August 4: An alleged cattle smuggler was apprehended following an encounter in the Nuh district of Haryana on Tuesday, while one of his accomplices managed to escape, according to police reports.

Authorities revealed that three cattle were rescued from a pickup truck during the operation, along with the recovery of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

In connection with the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the Firozpur Jhirka police station. The encounter reportedly took place on Tuesday morning near Biva village, where the suspects were transporting the cattle. Upon receiving a tip-off, teams from the special anti-cattle slaughter unit set up a blockade near the village, shortly before a pickup truck arrived at the scene.

A senior official stated that police officers signaled the vehicle to stop, but the driver breached the blockade and fled the scene, prompting police teams to pursue him. According to the official, during the chase, the driver attempted to turn the vehicle around in haste, but the engine stalled, causing the vehicle to halt. Subsequently, two individuals exited the vehicle and attempted to flee, during which they opened fire on the police.

In response, police returned fire, injuring one suspect in the left knee, leading to his capture. The injured individual has been identified as Jabir, a resident of the Deeg district in Rajasthan, and he has been admitted to the Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Medical College and Hospital in Nuh for treatment. Meanwhile, the individual who fled while firing at the police has been identified as Sahun, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.
