Allegations of Donation Misappropriation at Ayodhya Ram Temple Spark FIR
Investigation Launched into Ram Temple Donation Misuse
In Ayodhya, an FIR has been filed regarding the alleged embezzlement of funds intended for the Ram temple, as confirmed by officials on Thursday.
This legal action follows an ongoing investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), which recently presented its initial findings to the Uttar Pradesh government.
A police representative verified the filing of the FIR on the same day.
According to a senior official, the SIT has proposed several 'strong and strict' measures, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressing serious concern over the situation.
The official emphasized that anyone found culpable will face severe consequences, detailing the events leading to the FIR.
The SIT was established on June 13 at the request of the temple trust in response to claims of misappropriation of donations collected at the Ayodhya Ram temple.
The team includes Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, Inspector General of Police Kiran S, and Finance Department Special Secretary Neel Ratan.
The FIR was filed based on a complaint from Krishna Mohan, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Law enforcement has indicated that the case is registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including theft by a clerk or servant, criminal breach of trust, and conspiracy.
The FIR was initiated following the recommendations outlined in the SIT's preliminary report.
This development occurred shortly after the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) joined the call for an FIR regarding the alleged misuse of donations, coinciding with visits from senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, who arrived in the temple town to demand legal action.
