Accusations of External Interference in Student Protests
Abhijit Dipke, a representative of the Cockroach People's Party (CJP), claimed on Thursday that individuals from outside are being sent to intentionally disrupt the ongoing student protests. He accused members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of throwing stones and attempting to tarnish the image of the demonstrators. Speaking to reporters, Dipke noted that the protests had been ongoing for a month without any incidents, but the situation changed as the protests gained momentum.
He stated that people are being deliberately sent to interfere with the protests. 'We have been sitting here for a month without any incidents. However, as the protests intensified, the BJP has been sending goons from outside to provoke the crowd,' Dipke alleged. He further claimed that these individuals are affiliated with the BJP, who throw stones while police bring in stones in trucks. The BJP's goons then throw stones and attempt to defame CJP members.
Dipke also criticized the police for their brutal response during the protests, stating that they would take the responsible officers to court. He mentioned that they are urging Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike. Dipke highlighted that today marks the 34th day of the protests, while Wangchuk's hunger strike continues into its 26th day.
He reiterated his concerns about the police's actions during the protests, describing them as excessively harsh. 'We will hold the police accountable in court. Today is the 34th day of our protests, and Sonam Sir's hunger strike is ongoing. Our protests will continue until our demands are met. However, we are requesting Sonam Sir to end his hunger strike as we cannot risk his health,' Dipke added.
