Allegations Arise Following Zubeen Garg's Tragic Death
Garima Saikia Garg's Accusations
Guwahati, Dec 31: Garima Saikia Garg, the spouse of renowned cultural figure Zubeen Garg, has made serious allegations against Siddharth Sharma, Zubeen's manager, and Shyamkanu Mahanta, the chief organizer of the Northeast India Festival. She accuses them of negligence, manipulation, and conspiracy related to the circumstances surrounding her husband's death.
In a recent social media update, Garima pointed out several discrepancies in the travel and accommodation arrangements made for Zubeen's performance at the Northeast India Festival in Singapore.
Zubeen Garg tragically passed away on September 19 while swimming in the sea in Singapore.
Garima mentioned that she reviewed the chargesheet filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam Police, which raised numerous troubling questions. The chargesheet identifies seven individuals as accused, with four facing murder charges.
In her post, Garima expressed concern over the numerous inconsistencies in the planning and execution of the Singapore tour.
She was also taken aback by the lack of a formal contract between Zubeen and event organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta.
Garima questioned the planning of a farewell tour titled 'one last tour' across ten cities without Zubeen's prior knowledge.
“Why would Zubeen choose to stop performing live? He would never make such a decision. The chargesheet revealed that Siddharth had inflated the honorarium charged from Bihu committees, claiming it was for Zubeen's final live performance this season, yet no documentation supports this,” she stated.
She also raised concerns about the role of the Assam Association in Singapore regarding the immediate medical assistance provided to Zubeen.
“Video evidence shows Zubeen was neglected. A person with seizure issues was intoxicated and left unattended in the sea, swimming without a life jacket. This is unacceptable,” she asserted.
Garima called for the establishment of a fast-track court to expedite the trial process, emphasizing that with over 300 witnesses, delays could hinder justice.
“Justice delayed is justice denied! We urge the State Government to assemble a robust team of public prosecutors,” she concluded.
