Allahabad High Court Grants Anticipatory Bail to Religious Speakers

In a significant legal development, the Allahabad High Court has granted anticipatory bail to religious speakers Sant Singh Yadav and Mukat Singh Yadav. The court's decision came after reviewing allegations against them, which included misleading individuals during a religious event and fraudulently concealing their caste. The court found insufficient evidence to support the charges, emphasizing the petitioners' previous legal actions against those who allegedly attacked them. This ruling highlights the complexities surrounding religious gatherings and legal accountability.

Court Decision on Anticipatory Bail

The Allahabad High Court has approved the anticipatory bail applications of religious speakers Sant Singh Yadav and Mukat Singh Yadav. Justice Vivek Verma provided this relief during the hearing of their petitions on July 29.

Both speakers faced charges under sections 299 (acts intended to hurt religious sentiments) and 318 (4) (fraud) of the Indian Penal Code, following a complaint lodged at the Bakewar police station in Etawah.

The allegations against Sant Singh Yadav and Mukat Singh Yadav include misleading individuals during a religious event and concealing their caste through fraudulent documents. The petitioners' attorney informed the court that their clients had previously filed a complaint against certain individuals, accusing them of assault and unlawful detention.

After hearing from the involved parties, the court stated, 'Considering the nature of the allegations and the petitioners' past conduct, particularly the fact that they had previously filed a complaint against some individuals, there does not appear to be a case against the petitioners at this stage.'

The court further remarked, 'There is no substantial evidence linking these petitioners to the alleged crime. Therefore, without commenting on the merits of the case, I believe the petitioners are entitled to be released on bail.'
