Akhilesh Yadav Promises Financial Support for Women if Elected in 2027
Commitment to Women's Empowerment
Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, announced that if his party secures power in Uttar Pradesh in 2027, women from marginalized backgrounds will receive an annual pension of ₹40,000 under the revived Samajwadi Pension Scheme. Speaking at the party's office in Lucknow, he emphasized the importance of improving women's financial conditions and enhancing their self-reliance. Yadav also mentioned plans to restart existing welfare initiatives aimed at women and introduce new programs to further their empowerment.
Focus on Women's Progress
Yadav highlighted that women are a crucial part of society, and their advancement is vital for the overall development of the state. He stated that his party intends to reintroduce initiatives similar to the Rani Lakshmibai scheme to honor and support women. Additionally, he expressed the need for new programs to ensure social and economic equality, particularly for women from disadvantaged communities. According to him, empowering women will play a significant role in shaping the future of the state.
Critique of Current Government
During his address, Yadav harshly criticized the law and order situation under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. He claimed that crime rates are rising, leaving people, especially women, feeling unsafe. He accused the government of misusing the system for political gain and asserted that improvements would not occur until there is a change in leadership. He supported his claims by referencing recent criminal incidents.
Concerns Over Infrastructure Projects
Yadav also targeted the government regarding infrastructure projects, particularly the Green Corridor in Lucknow. He argued that the project lacks proper planning and fails to prioritize pedestrian safety. He suggested that the funds allocated could have been more effectively used to create wider and better roads. Regarding the upcoming elections in West Bengal, Yadav expressed confidence that Mamata Banerjee would return to power, asserting that public support remains strong despite opposition efforts.
