Akhilesh Yadav Defends Madhya Pradesh CM Amid Land Grab Allegations
Akhilesh Yadav's Defense of CM Mohan Yadav
Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, has come to the defense of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in light of accusations regarding land grabbing. He characterized these allegations as part of a broader strategy by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to replace chief ministers in at least three states, labeling it a 'conspiracy.' During his remarks, the MP from Kannauj suggested that the BJP aims to change the leadership in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
Additionally, he criticized Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, claiming that he has acquired between 300 to 600 acres of land.
Political Dynamics in Uttar Pradesh
Yadav noted that following the assembly elections in 2027, there will be a natural shift in leadership in Uttar Pradesh. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, he remarked that this situation is not unprecedented, pointing out that Mohan Yadav previously worked in real estate. He questioned whether the BJP was unaware of this background, asserting that the allegations are a distraction as the party seeks to replace three chief ministers.
Om Prakash Rajbhar, the Panchayati Raj Minister of Uttar Pradesh, defended Adityanath, suggesting that Yadav's concerns stem from fears that revelations about his treasurer's son-in-law's transport business could emerge.
Support for Mohan Yadav
Rajbhar, who leads the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and represents the Zahoorabad assembly constituency, also defended Mohan Yadav. He stated that the public is aware of the chief minister's real estate dealings and criticized the opposition for making baseless accusations. Hemant Khandelwal, the head of the BJP's Madhya Pradesh unit, echoed this sentiment, dismissing the allegations as unfounded and claiming that the Congress party aims to undermine a chief minister from the backward classes.
In a video released late Tuesday, Khandelwal expressed his belief that there is no truth to the allegations, asserting that the Congress has historically attempted to weaken OBC leaders in the state, citing past instances involving Uma Bharti, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Mohan Yadav.
