Akhilesh Yadav's Strong Criticism of BJP

On Monday, Akhilesh Yadav, a leader of the Samajwadi Party, launched a fierce attack on the BJP government, claiming that under its rule, issues such as hatred, inflation, unemployment, and corruption are spiraling out of control, while everything else is diminishing. He raised concerns about the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), questioning how it could function amidst such escalating problems. Yadav asserted that MGNREGA cards are being canceled, as the central government shifts the financial burden onto the states. In clear terms, he labeled the BJP as anti-poor!

Social Media Insights

Along with his comments on the social media platform X, Yadav shared an infographic detailing the number of MGNREGA cards reportedly canceled across six states: Bihar: 10.4 million, Uttar Pradesh: 9.04 million, Odisha: 4.16 million, Madhya Pradesh: 3.27 million, West Bengal: 2.42 million, and Rajasthan: 1.05 million. On December 16, he criticized the VB-G Ramji Bill, claiming it would place the 'entire burden' on state governments.

In a conversation with a news agency, Yadav expressed that the new bill's 60:40 funding split between the center and states would lead to conflicts. He also mocked the central government for its proposal to rename MGNREGA, suggesting that it is merely imitating the Uttar Pradesh government. He emphasized that political strategies and programs should benefit the public, noting that MGNREGA previously provided numerous employment opportunities. He questioned the rationale behind placing all the burden on state governments, which in turn would shift it back to the central government. Many states have yet to receive funds for MGNREGA. Yadav accused the Uttar Pradesh government of manipulating data, raising concerns about how these plans would resolve issues for chief ministers and create further complications for both state governments.

Further Remarks on Policy Changes

The parliamentary leader remarked, 'Changing the name won't make a significant difference. The Delhi government is merely copying the Uttar Pradesh government, which holds the record for frequently renaming its schemes.'
