On Monday, Akhilesh Yadav, a member of the Samajwadi Party (SP), launched a fierce attack on the central government, labeling the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a significant land mafia party. He raised concerns in Parliament regarding the ongoing deadlock and demanded answers about alleged financial irregularities related to donations for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Speaking to reporters about the legislative impasse, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh questioned the government regarding the 'Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act' (FCRA) amendment bill. He expressed his discontent over the police's use of force against student protesters, asking why batons were used, tear gas was deployed, and electric shocks were administered. Yadav emphasized that the BJP had previously assured that funds would not leave the country, yet significant amounts have been sent abroad through both official and unofficial channels. He accused the government of attempting to seize control of institutions through the FCRA.
Yadav asserted that the BJP is fundamentally a large land mafia party. He pointed out that the value of land in Ayodhya has skyrocketed due to the manipulation of faith surrounding the sacred site. The proceedings in both houses of Parliament were suspended until noon due to the ongoing impasse. Venugopal stated that the Congress will not allow the deadlock to end until Shah provides a statement in the house.
He reiterated that their position is clear: Amit Shah must come to Parliament and address the atrocities faced by students in Delhi. This is a firm demand, and until that issue is addressed, they will not relent.
