Akhilesh Yadav Emphasizes Social Justice
The leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Akhilesh Yadav, praised the party's ideology centered around "backward classes, Dalits, and minorities" during a press conference on Saturday, asserting that it would contribute to achieving social justice in society. He highlighted the commitment to collaborate with the people of the PDA to protect the rights and dignity of every individual and ensure justice.
Yadav expressed that in the near future, the PDA government would work together not only to promote social justice but also to establish a governance system that embodies it. He assured that both PDA members and socialists would strive to guarantee the rights and dignity of all individuals. Meanwhile, he criticized the BJP following the nomination of Bihar's current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the Rajya Sabha elections in 2026, stating that he wished for the JDU leader to retire from the position of Prime Minister.
Speaking to reporters, the SP chief remarked, "Those who understand politics were aware of the steps the BJP would take. We wanted Nitish Kumar to retire from the Prime Minister's position, but now he will retire as a member of the Rajya Sabha." Before rejoining the NDA ahead of the 2024 general elections, Nitish Kumar was one of the founding members of the INDIA bloc, and his supporters viewed him as a potential candidate for Prime Minister.
Earlier in January, Akhilesh Yadav appealed to voters and 'PDA supporters' to ensure that the votes from the PDA community remain united and not divided. He emphasized the importance of unity with the slogan, "Not a single vote should be divided, not a single vote should be lost." Yadav warned that the BJP government could exploit names missing from voter lists to deprive citizens of government schemes, jobs, ration cards, land, and other rights. He urged voters to treat their voter ID as crucial as their citizen ID and to remain vigilant while voting.
