AJP Calls for Investigation into Assam Recruitment Irregularities
Demand for Inquiry into Recruitment Process
Guwahati, March 3: The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), a regional political party, has urged for a thorough investigation into alleged discrepancies in the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE). They claim that fraudulent job placements in positions designated for the tea tribe and Adivasi communities have revealed significant flaws in the recruitment process.
AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi expressed concern over the reported use of counterfeit documents by certain candidates to obtain jobs in these reserved categories, stating, “This situation is both unfortunate and alarming. The rights of the tea community must not be compromised.”
The party referenced departmental reports indicating that 98 candidates have been deemed ineligible, with plans for legal action against those who attempted to gain employment through deceitful means.
Furthermore, AJP highlighted that complaints regarding 123 candidates have prompted a new round of document verification, as directed by the Tribal Welfare Department.
During this verification, 25 candidates did not show up, while 21 provided sufficient documentation, and 24 failed to submit complete paperwork. These developments have raised concerns regarding the transparency and integrity of the recruitment process, according to AJP.
The party also raised a “serious allegation” that positions meant for tea tribe and Adivasi candidates might have been allocated to outsiders.
They questioned how individuals not belonging to these communities could secure reserved positions, especially when educated youths from tea and Adivasi backgrounds are facing employment challenges. AJP speculated whether there is an organized network or favoritism involved in this process.
The regional party emphasized that any misuse of the reservation policy and the denial of opportunities to deserving candidates will not be accepted. They have called on the government to take stringent action against those responsible.
AJP's demands include an immediate high-level inquiry into the situation, the release of all documents related to appointments in reserved categories, and the cancellation of appointments for those found guilty, along with legal repercussions.
Reaffirming their commitment, Gogoi stated that the party will persist in advocating for the rights of tea tribe and Adivasi youths and will work to maintain the integrity of the reservation system in state recruitment.
