Ajmer Jail Warden Suspended Over Allegations of Misconduct

Suspension of Jail Warden in Ajmer

Jaipur, August 8 - A warden at the Ajmer Central Jail has been suspended due to allegations of using prohibited materials with inmates and maintaining contact with individuals outside the prison. Officials confirmed this information on Saturday. The spokesperson stated that Saddam Hussain, the warden stationed at the Ajmer Central Jail, has been suspended.

The Director General of Prisons, Ashok Rathore, issued the suspension order using powers granted under the Rajasthan Civil Services Rules, 1958. According to the order, a departmental inquiry is set to be conducted regarding the allegations. As part of the ongoing proceedings, inmate Syed Tauseef Chishti has been transferred from Ajmer Central Jail to Bharatpur Central Jail.

Additionally, the process of filing a First Information Report (FIR) at the Civil Lines police station in Ajmer is also underway. This action follows the emergence of a purported video showing inmates conversing via video call with an individual outside the prison. The video allegedly features three inmates speaking with Nafees Chishti using a mobile phone in the office of warden Saddam Hussain.

Nafees Chishti was sentenced to life imprisonment by a POCSO court for his involvement in the notorious Ajmer sex scandal case from the early 1990s. However, last year, the High Court suspended his sentence and granted bail to him and three other convicts. The video reportedly shows inmates Tarek Chishti, his son Tauseef Chishti (also known as Chinki), and his nephew Fakhar Jamali allegedly conversing with Nafees Chishti during the video call facilitated by the warden.

All three were sentenced to seven years each in 2014 for an attack on an individual.
