Ajit Pawar Urges Opposition to Focus on Critical Issues Over Cricket Rivalries
Addressing Key Concerns Over Cricket Matches
On Saturday, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar emphasized that the opposition should prioritize significant issues such as crop damage from heavy rainfall and traffic congestion, rather than engaging in discussions about unnecessary topics like the India-Pakistan cricket match.
His comments were a response to criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, who questioned the central government's decision to allow the Indian team to play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup, especially in light of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
Pawar remarked, 'Some individuals believe that India should sever ties with rivals like Pakistan, which is responsible for terrorist activities in our nation. However, there are also those who eagerly watch such matches. The opposition should focus on pressing matters instead.'
He further stated, 'Currently, there are several critical issues at hand, including severe rainfall, crop losses, and traffic jams, yet opposition members choose to discuss trivial matters like the India-Pakistan match.' The Deputy Chief Minister also dismissed allegations of vote theft, asserting, 'The opposition is attempting to create a false narrative, but they will not succeed.'
