Former Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane recently shared his thoughts on his retirement from international cricket, expressing no regrets after dedicating himself fully to the sport. He conveyed his satisfaction with his cricketing journey during an interview where he was introduced as a marquee player for the Amsterdam Flames in the inaugural European T20 Premier League (ETPL).

European T20 Premier League Details

The ETPL, recognized as Europe's first ICC-sanctioned T20 league, is set to take place from August 26 to September 20, 2026. The tournament will feature six city-based franchises: Glasgow, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Dublin, Belfast, and Rotterdam, competing in a total of 33 matches, marking a significant milestone for cricket in Europe.

A Glorious Career Comes to an End

Ajinkya, affectionately known as 'Jinx', concluded a remarkable 14-year international career with Team India, where he played a pivotal role in India's Test cricket success both at home and abroad, alongside notable performances in limited-overs formats. Reflecting on his decision to retire, Rahane mentioned he contemplated it for nearly a month, often questioning whether he had any regrets. Ultimately, he concluded that he had given his all and played commendably for his country.

'No Regrets at All'

"I am very happy with my decision. I am satisfied with the cricket I have played. I tend not to dwell on the past. I spent about 25-30 days contemplating this decision, questioning myself daily about any regrets. The answer was always the same: no regrets. I gave my utmost as a player," Rahane stated.

Looking Ahead in Cricket

Regarding his future in cricket, Rahane expressed a desire to share his experiences on a global scale by participating in various leagues. He also sees potential in becoming a mentor or coach, given his deep understanding of player psychology from his extensive career.

"I want to think bigger and not limit my experience to a small circle. I aim to share my knowledge globally while playing in different leagues. I believe I can excel as a mentor and coach due to my understanding of players' mentalities," he added.
