Aishwary's Mixed Emotions After Team Silver

On Friday, Indian shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar expressed his satisfaction with the silver medal earned in the men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team event, while also sharing his disappointment over not securing a medal in the individual category at the Asian Games. The Indian team achieved a final score of 1762-94x, narrowly missing out on gold, which was claimed by China with a score of 1766-95x. South Korea took home the bronze with a score of 1751-87x.

Team Performance vs. Individual Results

After clinching gold in the same event during the 2022 Asian Games, India faced a setback this time, losing their title to China. In the individual competition, Aishwary finished fifth with a score of 327.6, while his teammate Niraj ended in eighth place with a score of 299.

Aishwary's Thoughts on the Team Medal

"I am very happy about the silver medal. However, there is a bit of disappointment regarding the individual event. Nonetheless, I am pleased with the team's achievement," Aishwary remarked after the event.

Shooting's Contribution to India's Medal Tally

Despite fewer gold medals, Aishwary noted that shooting has significantly contributed to India's medal count at the ongoing Games. "We have secured several medals in shooting this time, including silvers and bronzes. One of our teams in the pistol event even won gold, which is fantastic," he stated.

Mindset During Team Events

When asked about his mindset during the team event, Aishwary emphasized that his primary focus was on performing his best for the team. "During the qualification match, my only thought is to give my absolute best to help the team secure a gold medal," he explained.

Acknowledgment of SAI's Support

Aishwary also acknowledged the crucial support from the Sports Authority of India (SAI), which provides essential resources such as ammunition, shooting ranges, and coaching. "We receive immense support from SAI, especially in terms of ammunition and training facilities," he added.
