AIADMK's Promises for the Upcoming Elections
On Tuesday, the AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami presented the party's manifesto for the forthcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections at the party headquarters in Chennai. This document outlines key promises and policy priorities aimed at regaining power in the state. Among the notable commitments, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam announced plans to provide free refrigerators to female heads of families holding rice ration cards, marking a significant welfare initiative for households across the state.
While unveiling the manifesto, Palaniswami launched a strong critique against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), accusing the government of fostering a regime of commissions, extortion, and corruption in Chennai. He claimed that corruption had become a systemic issue during the DMK's tenure. The manifesto also includes a promise to waive education loans taken from banks, aimed at alleviating the financial burden on students and young graduates throughout the state. Additionally, the party assured an increase in social security pensions for the elderly and other beneficiaries to ₹2,000.
As part of the election campaign, Palaniswami will be active in Chennai and surrounding areas from March 25 for three days. The party announced that he will also campaign in Mylapore, Chennai, on Wednesday. Furthermore, Palaniswami is scheduled to seek votes for the AIADMK and its allies in Alandur and suburban Tambaram on March 27. On March 28, he will continue his campaign in the RK Nagar and Thiruvottriyur regions of North Chennai. According to a statement released by the party, he will visit Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli districts on March 29, followed by campaigning in Tenkasi and Thoothukudi districts the next day.
