Ahmed Shehzad Critiques PCB's Weakness and Team Performance

Former cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has openly criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for its ineffectiveness and the detrimental influence of a select few individuals on the team's performance. He highlights the team's failure to progress in recent ICC tournaments and questions the board's strategy of promoting certain players through the Pakistan Super League. Shehzad's remarks underscore the need for accountability among players and the PCB's responsibility in fostering a winning environment. As Pakistan continues to struggle, including a recent ODI series loss to Bangladesh, the call for change within the cricketing structure grows louder.

Shehzad's Strong Words Against PCB

In a recent statement, former cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has voiced his strong disapproval of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), labeling it as ineffective and attributing the team's lackluster performance to the excessive influence of a select few individuals within the organization.

Pakistan's cricket team has struggled to advance beyond the group stages in their last four ICC tournaments, which has intensified scrutiny of both the players and the board. Their recent exit from the Super 8s in the T20 World Cup 2026 has only added to the criticism.

On his YouTube channel, Shehzad expressed, "The PCB has never been this weak in my lifetime. They possess authority, yet their decision-making seems to bow to player demands. This board is incapable of taking decisive action."

"Instead of introducing fresh talent, they resort to gimmicks after each event, but the public has recognized their repetitive tactics," he continued.

Shehzad also raised concerns about the PCB's strategy of promoting certain players through the Pakistan Super League (PSL), suggesting it fosters an unhealthy environment.

"The quality of players has not matched the brand image the PCB created for the PSL five to seven years ago. The same 6-8 players are now the faces of both the PSL and the national team. Can they truly alter Pakistan's fate?" he questioned.

He criticized the board for granting these players sponsorships and leadership roles without seeing any significant results.

"You invested heavily in these players, endorsed them, and appointed them as captains in the PSL. You essentially handed over the entire Pakistan cricket team to these few individuals and their agents. What have they achieved? They have indulged in personal gains while failing to secure victories for Pakistan," he remarked.

Shehzad further condemned the players for their lack of accountability, which he believes has contributed to the decline of cricket in the country.

"The arrogance is such that they refuse to acknowledge their responsibility. None of them are willing to admit their faults. They continue to play the blame game, and their egos remain intact. The PCB is in a dire state," he concluded.

Following the T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan's struggles continued as they suffered a defeat in a three-match ODI series against a lower-ranked Bangladesh, further compounding their humiliation.
