Admiral Krishna Swaminathan Takes Charge as India's 27th Navy Chief

Admiral Krishna Swaminathan has officially assumed the role of India's 27th Chief of Naval Staff, prioritizing the Navy's readiness and modernization amidst a challenging security landscape. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity and outlined his commitment to enhancing the Navy's capabilities while promoting indigenization. The former chief, Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, praised the Navy's consistent performance during crises and expressed confidence in Admiral Swaminathan's leadership. This transition marks a significant moment for the Indian Navy as it aims for new heights in operational readiness and technological advancement.
 

Admiral Swaminathan Assumes Command

On Sunday, Admiral Krishna Swaminathan officially took over as the 27th Chief of Naval Staff of India. Upon assuming command, he emphasized that maintaining the Navy's readiness in the face of security challenges and embracing new technologies will be his top priority. He expressed gratitude to the nation's leadership for this responsibility, calling it the greatest honor of his career.


Challenging Security Environment

In a conversation with the media, the new Navy Chief stated, "I am taking on this command with a strong sense of responsibility, pride, and gratitude. The Indian Navy is fully alert to protect the nation's interests. The current security environment around us is increasingly challenging, complex, and uncertain, making our vigilance essential."


Focus on Modernization and Preparedness

Discussing plans to address maritime threats, he highlighted that safeguarding the country's economic and security interests is paramount. Admiral Swaminathan remarked, "My primary task will be to ensure that the Indian Navy is always prepared at the highest level for warfare and operations. The Navy is advancing towards strengthening and modernization. I will strive to maintain this momentum and integrate new technologies into the Navy as swiftly as possible."


Commitment to Self-Reliance and Indigenization

The Navy Chief clarified that promoting domestically produced weapons and equipment will be a key focus during his tenure. He added, "The Indian Navy is fully committed to jointness, self-reliance, and indigenization. We will work rapidly in this direction."


Gratitude to Former Chief Admiral Tripathi

Admiral Swaminathan expressed appreciation on behalf of the entire Navy for the exemplary service of former Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi. He acknowledged that Admiral Tripathi had successfully led the Navy and assured that he would dedicate every day of his life to making the Navy better, stronger, and more effective.


Navy's Role in Times of Crisis

After the command handover, former Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi expressed satisfaction, stating that the Navy has consistently proven its strength during crises. He noted, "Whenever the country needed us, the Navy has fulfilled its duty. The 'Operation Energy Security' during the crisis in West Asia is a prime example. We have demonstrated that we are ready to protect India's maritime interests at any time and anywhere." He expressed confidence that under Admiral Swaminathan's leadership, the Indian Navy will reach new heights.
