Aditya Dhar's 'Dhurandhar' Faces Script Theft Allegations Despite Box Office Success
Overview of the Controversy
The film 'Dhurandhar', directed by Aditya Dhar, has achieved remarkable success at the box office since its release. However, the filmmaker is now embroiled in allegations of script theft. In March, director Santosh Kumar claimed that 'Dhurandhar' is a copy of his script 'D-Sahab', published in 2023. Following these accusations, Aditya filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, asserting that Santosh's repeated allegations in the media are defamatory and damaging to his reputation.
Court's Ruling
Justice Arif Doctor, presiding over the case, noted in the court's order that Santosh Kumar's lawyer, Mr. Bhura, has issued an apology for statements made during a press conference on March 30, 2026. Senior lawyer Dr. Saraf, representing Aditya, indicated that in light of the apology, his client does not wish to pursue the damages lawsuit further. The apology was accepted, leading to the conclusion of the case. However, the judge granted Santosh Kumar the freedom to initiate appropriate actions regarding his claims about the film's screenplay.
