Sonam Wangchuk's Letter to Government Officials

Activist Sonam Wangchuk has reached out to Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh through a letter. In his correspondence, he expressed a plea to the government regarding the end of his hunger strike. He mentioned that once he receives assurance from the government, he will also urge the peacefully protesting students to pause their movement and initiate dialogue with the authorities. Wangchuk also thanked the ministers for their sincere appeal to meet him in the hospital and for encouraging him to conclude his hunger strike.

Concerns Over Student Welfare

In his letter, Wangchuk highlighted that during their discussions, the ministers assured him that the government would consider appropriate compensation for the families of students who tragically took their lives following the exam paper leak. He emphasized the need for meaningful discussions in Parliament to ensure accountability, including contemplating the resignation of the honorable education minister. Wangchuk respectfully requested a clear assurance from the government that no punitive or retaliatory legal actions would be taken against any young protester involved in this movement.

Wangchuk's Commitment to Education Reform

He stated that the only crime of these young individuals has been their advocacy for a fair and accountable education system. If such assurances are provided, he would end his hunger strike, believing that the government has not only heard his plea but also the aspirations of millions of young Indians. The Cockroach Public Party (CAZPA) has urged Sonam Wangchuk to end his indefinite hunger strike, stating that his sacrifice has inspired students across the nation. They assured that the movement against the alleged examination irregularities would persist until their demands are met. In a public letter addressed to Wangchuk, CAZPA emphasized the importance of prioritizing his health while remaining committed to the campaign for examination justice.

Call for Continued Advocacy

The letter expressed, 'With utmost respect and gratitude, we request you to please end your hunger strike. Your sacrifice has inspired thousands of students nationwide.' Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike for the past 25 days, advocating for accountability regarding the alleged examination irregularities. CAZPA referenced the 'March to Parliament' on July 20, noting that students from various states had gathered in Delhi to support this movement.
